Through this I gained experience in communication and working as a team member. The work gave me a sense of responsibility as I had to be able to work on my own and deal with other people's money and it gave me the ability to tactfully handle customers.

Interested and Activities

 

I enjoy participating in various sports including football, tennis and badminton. I also enjoy cycling and walking as I find these activities both demanding and relaxing. I follow a few sports including football and Formula 1 motor racing.



I enjoy playing and listening to music especially dance and pop, and have achieved Music Theory up to grade 5 and Pianoforte up to grade 6. I have been several bands in which played either the piano or guitar. In one of these groups I was the leader. This which involved me organising, motivating and delegating tasks and responsibilities to all the members.



I have a strong interest in information technology, which is one of the main reasons that I am studying computer science at university. On my PC at home I have a dual-boot system which allows me to run either Linux or Windows


 

Skills

 

Analytical Skills
Through both writing programs and technical troubleshooting I have expanded my analytical skills. Be able to diagnose and solve problem on the spot.



Communication skills
I have had experience in dealing with the public, colleagues and ordinary computer users. I am able to express myself both on paper and verbally, in a manner of different styles.



Computer skills
I have experience with various software packages including Microsoft Office Professional, Corel Office, Corel Draw, Abobe Illustrator, Eudora Pro, CuteFTP, WS-FTP, and various other Internet packages. Additionally I find it easy to 'get to grips' with a new piece of software.
I have experience in using and administrating various operating systems including Windows 3.1 onwards, Linux, Netware, Unix (Solaris and Irix), MacOS 8.6 onwards, and RiscOS 3.1 onwards.
I have experience with Oracle databases and in producing databases using XDB and MySQL.
I have experience in programming in 6502 assembler, Ada, BASIC, C, C++, HTML, PERL, and Visual BASIC. I am interested in the Internet and I have my own website which can be found at http://www.philipnet.com.
Furthermore, I find it easy to get to grips with a new piece of software.



Office skills
I have experience with the day to day running of an office, including filing, photocopying, producing mail shots and general clerical skills.
